This concept store was designed for the virtual reality brand Oculus before its acquisition by Meta. Modeled in Rhino and rendered with V-Ray, the design was envisioned for a hypothetical location in Oceanside, Santa Monica.
The architectural reference came from natural rock formations shaped by a mollusk called piddocks, which burrow into stone. The store’s design sought to create a space that felt organically eroded rather than artificially constructed. The building itself was alive. The visitor experience was conceived as a process of “digestion”—entering through one opening and exiting through the same.
